Civil Litigation

Not every dispute is a business dispute — but every dispute deserves counsel who prepares to win. We represent individuals and companies across the full range of civil claims.

Civil litigation with commercial discipline

Itkin Law represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation throughout California — contract claims, fraud and misrepresentation, real property disputes, and the wide territory of disagreements that end up in Superior Court. We bring the same discipline to a civil case that we bring to commercial work: early case assessment, a litigation budget you approve, and strategy driven by the outcome you actually need.

Many of our civil matters arrive from business clients — an owner's personal dispute, a real estate problem, a contract signed as an individual. One firm, one standard, whichever hat you're wearing.

Civil matters we take on

  • Breach of contract between individuals or with businesses
  • Fraud, misrepresentation, and financial elder abuse claims
  • Real estate and property disputes, including easements and boundary claims
  • Landlord–tenant and commercial lease disputes
  • Loan, promissory note, and personal guarantee disputes
  • Defamation and interference claims
  • Judgment enforcement and defense
  • Demand letters, mediation, and pre-litigation strategy

Resolution on your terms

Civil cases are won with preparation and leverage. We move early — targeted demand letters, strategic filings, and motions that put pressure where it changes behavior. When settlement serves you, we negotiate from strength; when it doesn't, we are prepared to try the case.

Common questions

How much does it cost to file a civil lawsuit in California?

Filing fees for most California Superior Court civil cases run a few hundred dollars; the real cost is attorney time. After a free consultation we scope a budget for each phase, and for some matters we can structure flat fees.

Is there a deadline to bring my claim?

Yes — California statutes of limitations range from months to several years depending on the claim, and government claims have much shorter windows. If you think you have a claim, talk to a lawyer promptly; waiting can extinguish it.

Can you defend me if I've been sued?

Yes. We defend individuals and businesses in civil actions, including on short deadlines — if you've been served, contact us before your response is due.
